Fortis Report post Posted February 28, 2016 You truly are the .000000001 percent in all ways! http://slumberwise.com/science/can-you-thr...-sleep-a-night/ Look at the hours of my LP posts that should pretty much tell you how much sleep I am getting I don't think it's anything special about me not sleeping more than 5 or 6 hours a night, I thought most sleep 7 to 8 hours max and didn't think it was a big deal that I was getting 1 or 2 hours less a night. I sometimes force myself to sleep more because everybody is telling me that's bad for me but I can't, I just sit in bed semi awake and it's irritating me, I feel rested after 5 or 6 hours and ready to rock and roll. I can't believe I am discussing my sleeping patterns If you think I am weird, my stepfather goes to bed at around 9:30PM and gets up at 3:30 AM when we were living together he used to drive us NUTS because he was making noise in the kitchen etc. now he's only driving my mom nuts LOL Hey OP where are you ? Save this thread LOL

Kerplop Report post Posted March 1, 2016 I definitely don't feel like I'll ever have all the answers. I'll also never shit on someone for their life choices if it makes them happy. I really enjoyed the civil discussion on some of the pages on here, this is why I like talking with you guys. It's unfortunate that it sort of went the wrong way after a while, but some of the discussion was very level headed and good
cake Report post Posted March 1, 2016 Back on topic - I'm curious about something. Not sure there is really an answer but interested in LPer opinions. Let's say you're with a woman (married or maybe just in relationship) and she gets pregnant unexpectedly. Let's say the relationship is not ideal - a bit rocky here and there. If she decides to have the baby and you have committed to staying with her and "doing the right thing" and be a Dad to the child - do you still fall in love with the baby because it's yours, and that "thing" clicks inside you and instinct takes over? OR Does how you feel about the mother of the child have a big impact on how you feel about being a Dad to the child of the woman that you are not sure you want to stay with? I guess I'm wondering how much the relationship between the man & woman impacts the feeling of wanting/loving/accepting fatherhood. Several of you talked about being in fantastic marriages with the woman of your dreams and that you couldn't wait to have a baby together, or the baby came and it changed your life for the better. But in each case it sounded like you deeply love and respect your partner. If the deep love and mutual respect isn't there for the mother of the child, does it change the relationship with the child and the desire to be a great dad. FWIW this is not my situation and it's not the situation of anyone I know (although I'm sure it's not uncommon). I was just thinking out loud and interested in your thoughts. TeamSalamone Report post Posted March 2, 2016 actually after posting that (a few minutes ago) I went to check on the Bean.. he is so happy to see me .. showed me his stupid ass lego shit he is building and he told me he loved me. He just stayed here.. for 9 years .. I did mommy and me classes; safety swim... suffered through his totally sucky soccer games (he is the worst) and parent and teacher conferences... he is still here don't get me started. Concubine is also "still here" She (on our third date) went to mexico with me so I could see what her real name was (Divina ... yep... its a real name and yes sounds like a stripper name to me) anyway.. we went there to have sex on a pyramid in 2008 (bean was an infant I left him with a nanny I fell on my way down the aztex pyramid and broke my HAND I couldn't button my own clothes ... I was helpless She stayed with me to help with things while my hand healed..... and she is still here too. this is a very strange life... there are many wonderful and exciting things that happen to good people... enjoy every minute. I do not recommend having a child.. I have had a vascectomy and I guess what I have now (pretty much a sex crazed blonde and an underachieving pudgy kid who cant kick a fcuking soccer ball to save his life) is just .... PERFECT

BigBadLambo Report post Posted March 2, 2016 I have kind of a weird history with my kids. Met my wife when I was 20 and she had an 8 year old son. I wasn't ready to be a dad. When he was in high school I was more high fiving him when he was sleeping with girls. Once he got out of high school we traveled around the world - ALL OVER. When he was 19 we then had 2 girls. It is absolutely the most unbelievable thing in the world. And no the kids are not a burden. We do different things now. Instead of going to a cars and coffee we might go to a soccer game. But my daughters like the car thing. So we go to car shows and races all the time. The kids haven't hampered my business or my life. We are doing way better now then when we were younger. I will say this. Having money does make things easier. With our son, going to Mcdonalds was a treat, now maybe we will go to Europe. You do have limitations, like right now there are 4 of us there is no way that we can all fit in the lambo, so I will just buy a Ferrari for the wife and drive both - or not. Yes there is a period of time when there is no sleep in the beginning. But right now my girls go to bed at 8 and get up around 6:30. How the heck is this not enough sleep? A NON parent will never understand. Say what you want - YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND. Watching your nieces and nephews is not the same. Babysitting is not the same. Until you see your child get heart while playing and feel your heart sink because of the immense love that you have you won't understand. And EVERY parent in here knows exactly what I am talking about. It isn't that you can't go to the car show. It is that you don't really care about it any more and you would rather go to the soccer game. New Years day my 12 year old daughter and I went to a huge car show with probably 500-600 cars. She loved it. Although she did like the mustangs.

Plastique999 Report post Posted March 4, 2016 Sonny, you make some decent points. But think big picture for a second: People with all of the financial accomplishments in the world......usually will still be seeking something extra. Even people without financial accomplishments would seek it too. It's not for everyone but surely you can see the appeal for those that do? A few people on here wrote "it wasn't about me anymore but others"....that's pretty profound. I see a bunch of friends my age going through the "struggle"....some whine, some don't. Yes look at what Steve Jobs said in his dying moments.....all about family
Plastique999 Report post Posted March 4, 2016 Holy crap! Late to this party... Weren't we put on this planet to procreate? I have 4 little ones and they are the lights of my life....cars are a really close second. They are 9, 6, 4, and 1 1/2. I wish I could freeze them in time. My wife is an angel, don't know how she doe it. I work my ass off and at the end of a shitty day, one of my little ones wobbles over to me screaming "Daddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and all is right with me. Best moment of the day is rocking my 1 1/2 year old daughter to sleep. I race LotuscCupUSA....my 4 yr old son helps me fill up the gas tank and helps rotate tires. When I win a race, best part is bringing my son up to the podium and him hoisting the trophy. His smile is priceless. I go to a car meet in the Murcie with top off. My 6 yr old wakes up at 5 in the morning, puts on a Ferrari hat (oh geez) and is my copilot. We park, scissor doors up, panties drop....he is the rockstar. Sure I have to clean up shit, change diapers, cancel a car meet, pick up kids from school/daycare, get vomited on.....but it is AWESOME!!! dont knock it til you try it. My kids are an extension of me and my values. I learn a lot from them. Life is sacrifice, love, joy and sharing with my kids and my wife ...at least for me. Ok I have to wake their asses up now and get their shit ready for school....and then go golf

HannibalACP82 Report post Posted March 4, 2016 Just today on the way home from lunch had the family in the S8...gunned it at a light and went 3 lanes wide to get around slower traffic with the kids howling with delight and screaming "daddy we love it when you drive fast". Can't beat the feeling of your kids experiencing unadulterated joy at something. Sharing your hobbies with your kids and watching them become theirs is an amazing feeling. PS Does anyone else refer to it as " christening the car" when a kid throws up in it for the first time?
Lightning Report post Posted March 4, 2016 PS Does anyone else refer to it as " christening the car" when a kid throws up in it for the first time?
